Subject: RE: Borrowing stuff out

Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot
Especially when dealing with friends and neighbors, its hard to know when to say no, when to loan it out, and when to charge rent. Or when to say I'll come do it myself. I rent a lot of stuff out, everything I have is for rent or hire. I do a lot of custom work.

I have a couple of friends who can come borrow stuff, and I'll borrow stuff from them. But, when one of them needed a tractor for all of harvest, he rented it. It's easier to stay friends that way. But, I also went and took a tractor and rake and helped a friend when he needed it. I wasn't busy and he would do the same. Communication goes a long ways. FWIW, I've seen the borrowing thing go bad enough times that I'm pretty particular about making sure it gets back, in as good of shape or better, in a timely matter. Especially if I'm borrowing. Otherwise you can't expect to borrow anything ever again.
