Subject: RE: Borrowing stuff out

West Cental Arkansas
Had a guy who borrowed almost everything I had when I was younger. Tractors, litter trucks, stock trailers, tools, you get the drift. He used it a lot. Times I had to go chase him down to get the item.

He also borrowed from others. He had very little equipment of his own.

When he got to probably 50 years old he began to accumulate some equipment. He bought a small John Deere tractor like the one he had borrowed from me a bunch of times. My tractor was in the shop and I asked about borrowing his tractor, his reply was---I didn't buy that tractor to loan it out. Guess you know how I felt.

Now he is in his middle 60's and has some decent equipment. A buddy of mine and I were talking one day. I told him that guy should be able to buy some decent equipment because he used everyone else's for the first 50 years of his life.

If my farming career was to begin over again I would keep my equipment on my farms.

Just a life lesson I learned the hard way.
