Subject: RE: spraying corn stalks

WC Mn/Dakotas
I have 1 grower doing 5 gal 28% and 1 gal sugar. He is running a deere chopper header about as low as possible, then running a roller packer across to shatter the base, then spraying. Then running a Lemken rubin 12 about 6-8" deep a couple days later.

This just speeds up the process a little. But this far north a little goes a looong way.

We then subtract that anount of N out of the rest of our N requirements for the next crop following corn. If its corn on corn, we might run the sprayer first thing in spring with another 15-20 gal, plant, followed by pre emerge herb with 15-25 gal more as carrier. VRT sidedress the balance.

Had 200-250 bu avg last year and looking like the same thing this year. Im guessing farm avg will be 10 bu better.

This is one plan, it works for him. Everything thing is based off of ROI and attention to a lot of other little details.
