King City, Mo | It takes a little time but it can be done and as conditions change you may need to adjust your machine and even different varities may need different tweaks to the combine.
Well it helps when you have clean beans.
I have the sickle pointed up so I get less soil in on the head. The plastic was worked over and the sickle and guards are new and also all new fingers in the head. This is important so we get even feeding into the cylinder. Those bunches that pile up and make the whoop sound aren't good and makes you wanna reach over and speed up the cylinder.
I have the cylinder Fairly wide and set at 350rpm. I have new cylinder bars installed that are the chrome ones. We have straw walkers so we might as well use them..
The precleaner is basically closed.
The bottom sieve, I closed and then I took a can of soybeans and dumped them In and opened it up slightly till several fell threw. I have more stuff on the return auger but it's working for me to get higher quality in the tank.
I cranked the air up also a little higher then the book. Walking around the machine after running look to make sure the air intake around the fan is clean and not blocked with residue.
There are screens you can get for under the return auger but I don't have mine in. It's doing good enough on this and I would have to take it out to run the Milo plot and wasn't motivated to lay under the combine and put it in unless I need it. I think it was $300ish from A&I.
I'm running 3.5-4mph and not pushing on it.
I set the machine and made a pass to the end of the field. Turned around and then made some adjustments. Checked it at the other end. We have a glass behind our head to look so might as well use it.
You can give me a call sometime when your tweaking with your machine to bounce ideas around if you want. My cell# is 660-483-03 double 5.
