I agree with everything you said. Erosion control is the main reason here too, but I also like what i see in strip till corn on corn as it holds residue in place and it doesn't let it blow across the spring strips.

Get some cover vs no cover strips in this fall and start to measure yield. Always generates a lot more questions, sometimes more than it answers at first! Replicate them so you can run statistics to see if differences are real or not. We need this info!


Can you explain how you do your covers in strip till? Do you plant covers on 15s or 30s then strip in between?
