I will never again allow canary grass to be planted on my land. It DOES NOT prevent washouts any better, if as well as fescue. It WILL become a nuisance weed like johnsongrass. It is very hard to control.
We have it a some farms as a result of being seeded on waterways in the 60's on recommendation by NRCS. Never again.
