I agree with all you said if the size and production is fairly constant for your area. There is about 30-50% cotton in our county and it seems with the custom crews moving in with balers its picked very fast. Their is a cost though, at 2 bales thats $140 per acre just for harvest cost. I cant make that work in my operation. The cotton we spill, leave with conv is off set by 0 cost to cover. We had our custom guy suck up spilled cotton over a 75a block, wasn't even a buggy full. 2-3 bale buggy. Stripper cotton. It does get close to covering wrap, especially when i factor in tarp crews. My short hauls make the trucking almost nill. The gin stores cotton on some of our farms. Our normal crop is 1.5. Have had alot of 1-1.25 in last few years. 2010 and 16 were 2 bale crops.
