Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS

No problem. A lot (if not most) of the tillage done around here is done in the fall. This is in the MS Delta. Most of the crops around here have been harvested. I think some farmers started harvesting corn in late July or early August. A few are still cutting late soybeans. What cotton there is seems to be in full swing. Most farmers will bury their residue and, unless they intend to plant rice in a given field next year, will go ahead and put up the beds for furrow irrigation. A significant amount of the land in this area (mid-Delta) has been precision leveled. Not many pivots left. Precision leveling makes flooding the rice fields a lot more efficient as well.

I am somewhat acquainted with a guy who farms in the area somewhat west of you. Whole different way of doing things.

Besides, I was just doing what the boss told me to. :-) I am very part-time help (harvest season occasional truck driver. Mostly weekends) for the guy who owns the equipment I was running.
