Southwest Illinois | No way will a dealer be very interested in buying that bike in that condition. While the miles aren't bad they'd probably have to stick 3 grand or more into it to get it into sharp condition. So if they give your buddy 6 and stick 3 in it they have to ask 9 just to break even. In this economy people either have enough money to buy a new one or not at all. Plus for a couple thousand more you can get a new sporty 1200. Lots of softail customs and dueces in my area that are 5 years old with asking prices in the 11-15 range. A new Softail custon has a MSRP in the 18-19 range. Since you know the guy you could maybe offer him 5 or so and get it painted and be in for around 6 or so. Which wouldn't be all bad for a starter bike. | |
