Alton, Ia | I was trying to communicate that, sorry if I confused it. The OP gets paid on wet bushels, no shrink, you're right, but they are charging 3% for drying those wet bushels. Actual real water loss is 1.18% per point, so in reality they are charging him drying/shrink of 1.82% per point. The 1.18% is there regardless, that's the water lost per point of drying. Nobody gains or loses on those. Normal "shrink/losses/spillage" around here is .32, so 1.5% remains for actual drying charges discount against his wet bushels. Times $3 cash price, no idea what OP is at, gives $.045 per point to dry it.
That's really what his buyer is doing, just in a different way.
Clear as mud? Or muddy floodwaters?
