Subject: RE: Mr. Matthew the Hurricane

Mississippi

zfisher70 - 10/7/2016 07:36 Used to have some crazy Typhoon parties when I was stationed in Hawaii but then again Marines don't really need an excuse to get lit. I can imagine the amounts of alcohol being consumed is pretty high right now glad I'm past that point in life though safely haha

When Camille his the Mississippi coast (1968, I think), a lawman was dispatched to an area to urge people to evacuate. A group of folks were holding a hurricane party in an apartment complex and said they weren't leaving.

The policeman radioed back to the station and asked what he should do.

The answer: "Go back and get a list of their nexts of kin."

Nobody who remained in the complex lived.

Anytime the term "hurricane party" comes up, that story always comes to mind, even 48 years later.
