"Here" Liberty only burns off the leaves. I've had alfalfa in canola, that had been sprayed with roundup in the spring, so it didn't all die. What was left was sprayed 3 times with Liberty in crop. Set it back enough that it didn't compete with the crop much after the crop was 3' tall. After harvest, looked like a full scale alfalfa field again.
Can't help but thinking about if we could do this on purpose, and alfalfa would be a great crop to do this with.
Burn alfalfa enough to make it non-competitive with the summer crop, then have it come back after harvest.
It could provide some N, while greatly reduce erosion potential and last for a few seasons w/o reseeding. |
