Subject: RE: Why do you farm?

Columbus, TX
I currently work a full time job and farm. It's my goal to eventually farm for a living and leave the regular job. My grandparents farmed on the home place and worked regular jobs as well as my dad does. It's just something that's in my blood I guess but it took me a while to tap into it. Even though there are plenty of struggles with farming, there is always a sense of satisfaction when I leave the field. Something about seeing plowed ground, and a crop coming up from God's earth is just neat to me. Open fields, wildlife, and freedom are some of the big pluses about farming. It's just you, the tractor, and the land. I absolutely love that. A challenge that I have learned to love, and knowing that there is no one single perfect way to do any of it. No matter how good of a plan you have for the future crops, mother nature has the biggest hand in everything.
