| Here in NW Iowa where there has been heavy rains in the last month. The local elevators are now actually sniffing every load that comes in before they dump it for any sour smell and looking for mold and any discolored beans. According to the guys noses at the pit the load maybe rejected/condemned. Don't understand why they are nit picking so much as there has always been a discount for sour or moldy beans. They are suggesting to everyone to contact your insurance company and destroy the beans. There are a few fields that have been submerged in water for some time now and the beans are bad but they are nit picking over fields that only stood in water a few days and the beans still smell and look good. This is all due to a Iowa State flyer on submerged beans is what the elevators seem to be going by. I believe the IA State flyer they are showing at the elevators pertains more to river water contamination more so than just ponds in your fields. Anyone else seeing this happening at your elevator? What about all these outside piles of soybeans we have been hearing about around the Midwest that have been getting heavy rains on them. Are they going to be condemned also?? | |
