Thumb of Michigan | We have a 17 kW system, and we are able to sell excess power back. I can't remember what the payback was when we put the array in- 6 or 7 yrs when the grant, credits, and depreciation is calculated in. Had about $6 a watt into it gross, all the programs paid back a significant amount of that.
BUT- the stuff available today is more efficient and substantially cheaper last I priced it. One theory was that a lot of the credits were priced into the equipment, and when they went away the price got lower due in part to that. I can't prove it or refute it, might be bunk. No matter, the current cost and whatever your particular programs are is what you need to know to calculate a ROI. Detroit Edison had a link to a very good spreadsheet, I don't have the link to it where I'm at now. I'm sure there are others available online as well. | |
