Farmington, Mo | What I was told is that it's a .25% per 10 degrees of "slow" cooling. I have seen this in action as well. Took maybe three days of blowing cool air on the bin for everything to equalize. One of the guys said something to the effect of the core being wetter than the surface and that is correct....takes time for the moisture to migrate from the center of the kernel. We run a Shivvers and they recommend letting the grain steepe in the cooling bin for 4-8 hours before turning the cooling fan on in order to get the desired amount of drying from the cooling process. Not sure if that crosses over to a continuous flow dryer or not, but it has worked for me in my system...just my $.02. Good luck! | |
