Add it to the list of things that's ticking me off with the coop. This summer they were offering $35 black 2016 contracts so at that point I thought we would at least get high 20s on the 2015 pool payment...Nope-$25... called to ask for an explaination ( maybe there was a good reason- I don't grow many drybeans and don't know much about the market) and " the guy who knew" never called me back . I do very little business with them but I am looking elsewhere if I grow edibles again. I don't know how guys in the thumb deal with them for all their needs - they r cheap on their grain prices and high on their inputs ... Oh I know ..."The Patronage!" ha ha Just seems like every time I go to their locations they r building and adding nice new equipment ... I'd like a bit more of that in my own pocket .
Good business here in the thumb is to avoid the coop as much as possible. Everyone I roll into the coop with a old semi (that I can barely afford) I leave with another reason to not come back!! Monday I delivered a load of black beans there and watched two men take my dean sample towards the end of the load and pick me HIGH. The bean grader told my hired hand that it is against company policy for them to grade a load of edibles and have 0 pick.... What does this tell you? |
