If its dead, it will flow through machine just fine. Dont over load it or it will walk some out the back. Set machine in avg grassy area. If not dead kill it. If its tall watch the reel ends so it doesn't wrap around reel shaft and break things. A pick up reel will feed grass better than a bat.
