Subject: CRP native grass mix to no till corn question

SW Lower Michigan
I have picked up 20 acres from a guy who’s CRP contract was not renewed which is a shame because the ground has a beautiful native grass and flower mix growing on it. That said, “here” if ground is available you take it. What is my best bet to convert this to no till corn/soy rotation? I have been thinking mow and spray this fall and moldboard in the spring to get a good start at perpetual no till. I have been told even moldboarding will not completely finish these grasses off and may not be worth the effort. I had picked up 9 similar acres this year and just sprayed and planted, then sprayed and sprayed and I don’t want to spray 4 times if I can help it for the obvious reasons. This is in southwest lower Michigan and the soil is sandy loam leaning toward the sandy side. I’ve had good success several times converting hay fields to no till row crops without tilling but I think the native grasses are more difficult to kill.
