I got one 1700' from my house. When it's quiet out you really don't hear it. The most noise is when the blades are wet or icy. Those aren't the times you wanna sit on the porch and drink a beer anyways so it doesn't bother me. And yeah they all make that clunking sound- its hard to believe there isn't damage happening from the sounds they make.
