Subject: RE: Buy land or stocks?

SW Iowa
Got 40 acres of pasture back in 2000. Been a good investment "on paper" but the rent hasn't been a good return. Would I sell it? Don't think so. Wish I could buy more ground, but as some above said its hard to do that taking 10-20% a week out of the paycheck and buying acres. The land sales have declined in my area but sounds like they could be coming back for all the wrong reasons. Hate to see someone get "sold out" but a lot of ground and shinny paint setting in the shed don't make ya rich if its mortgaged heavy. Thank God I have a good off farm job that has a good 401k plan. I've stuck a lot of my paycheck in it over the years. It's not tied directly to my company so its a little safer then Bernie's. Averaged better then 8-10% return for the last 28 years. I ain't rich but it beats the heck out others that haven't planned ahead.
