I have lost money on the stock market.... Real money. Enough that it pains me to think about it.

I have never lost a cent of the money I invested into land. I can see it. I can go and roll around in it. I can smell it. It is mine to control.

A mortgage payment is like a forced savings account. You have to make that payment no matter what. That payment forces you to be a better manager.

Sure, you could put money into a mutual every month, but if you get squeezed, that investment will be the first thing you give up.
