Manitoba, Canada | An uncle once told me that most of the money a farmer retires on is due to inflation of land values. I had never thought about it till then. When I started thinking about it I realized how true that often really is.
The wealthiest retirees are often the people who buy appreciable assets, like land, during their formative years rather than depreciable assets like equipment
It's not as glamourous of a lifestyle and they appear to be poorer but it usually pays off in the end.
