Go for it. I suppose I was a little older when I first ran the combine, maybe 16, but not much older. As to a day of missing school, our education system is so jacked up I wonder how much kids learn there anymore. I learned more by working on the farm in coop during HS than I did in 4 years of HS. Junior high pretty much the same. If he's 13 he should have a good idea if he wants to farm or not down the line, if he does, time spent in the combine seat would probably negate anything he could learn sitting through more garbage in, garbage out classes. I have a 13 year old too so I can relate. She wants to be a vet tech.
