Galahad, Alberta
I had a counter shaft bearing come apart on my 8820 years ago. Heard a loud clunk from the left side, stopped, checked behind the fan shroud and found a large steel ball on the frame. Couldn't figure out where it had come from either. Then got looking at counter shaft and bearing was out. They are a good sized bearing. If the original poster's countershaft bearings are fine, maybe a previous owner had the bearing fail and the ball has just been riding around ever since.
