Subject: RE: JD 8570

Brown City, Michigan
I've have a 8560 with around 6,000 hours on it, of which I have put all but 800. In that time it has been a very good tractor. I also have a 8640. We've dynoed them both and they are only 7 hp different. The 8640 feels like more tractor, however, they both pull the same equipment. The 8560 is much, much, much better on fuel. I've got hired help and they all favor the 8560 as it is much quieter with a better cab. Downside to the 8560, is the numerous hydraulic hoses that weave through the pivot joint . They tend to blow out every few years. Mine has 3pt and PTO. If the tractor has been sitting a while, the 3pt won't go down with out persuasion. Never was a problem with the 8640. Visibillity is better with the 8640. Maintenance costs are much lower with the 8560.

I also went from 160 hp tractors up to the 250 hp range. Quickly found out we needed to upgrade field cultivators, as the 26 ft JD 1010 were built with too light of wings for the 4wds. We now pull 34 ft Jd 2210 with 36 ft packers. The 8640 is too light for pulling beet trucks with big trailers. The 8560 can do it much better, with its extra weight.
