Subject: RE: what would you do if you found a car in your soybeans

NW Iowa
About maybe 12 years ago I had a neighboring farmers kid get drunk and run into one of my fields of beans. I don't know perhaps, seventy feet or so. It was August so damage was permanent. Sheriff informed me who it was so I knew. Being a nice guy and too passive, I never said anything and of course he never looked me up. Today he farms in the area and has a custom rolling business.

In 2010-2011 my then wife decided there was better things in life than being married to me. In the process this young man suddenly becomes chumly with my soon to be x. This guy at the time had a sleazy reputation. To this day, I don't know what for sure was going on between them. She had no reservations about younger men, but maybe that wasn't it. Maybe it was the 320 acres of ground she ended up with that he wanted or maybe he was just being a nice guy. I doubt it! I still farm the ground and he's moved on to a wife and kids.

Let's just say when I choose to retire he won't be renting any of the ground I farm or rent, if I have any sway in the matter. He will never be rolling my beans either. If I had it to do over though, I'd have used the bean field incidence as a cause to get a little better acquainted for his good.
I mean that in a older fatherly and mentorly sort of way.

In short you might have an opportunity to change a life in a small way for the better. Follow up at least a little.
