Elederly drunk drove off the road, jumped our driveway, and landed 100 feet in the bean field. Family came with a semi to haul the bent pickup home. Asked dad what he wanted for damages, dad took $20 bill.

Everyone was nice about it, worked out well. This was decades ago.

Worse than the bean damage was all the junk in the back of the pickup was strewn in the mature beans. Lot of cleanup.

By the time someone notified us about it, I went out and 20 passers by were walking through the bean field, driver had been hauled off in an ambulance. They kept saying keep an eye out for his teeth. Huh? I was kinda startled by the whole deal going on, and didn't think of a plate right away, was wondering how bad the guy was hurt that we were searching for teeth...
