Subject: RE: Grain bagger or steel bins?

Grain bagging has been one of our best investment of any equipment on our farm over the last 6 years. Definitely not for everyone, have to think ahead everything you do from variety selection to harvest order to how much you sell to where and when. All things that require thought. Have lost practically no grain or quality in the 6 years we have bagged a lot of bushels. I actually think its better for us than bins as we are spread out and most of our corn would be going the wrong way to the bins versus where the end user is. I.e. most of our end users are South so we would double haul so many bushels it wouldn't even be funny. We are a dry, cool climate with limited wildlife so that probably helps us out. Last year we averaged .056 cents a bushel for grain bag cost in corn. Other crops are different due to test weight and other factors.
