Douglass Kansas
Most years we contract our soybeans during the Feb. thru May time frame for July or August deliver, Cargill is usually 15 to 20 cent higher for July or August deliver than they are for current deliver. This year I got the best price on corn by pricing in early June for July pickup, ended up getting picked up in August. Corn in the bin was still cold and bug free.
Even a small hole in a bag can damage a lot of grain. Bags are for short term storage. What will you do when the price goes lower from harvest to March?
Renting a bin will give you experience with the extra work involved with on farm grain storage without the large investment.
