Subject: RE: Do cover crops help with slugs?

Lancaster, OH
There is a yield penalty for having a crop emerging under established competition so the idea of a delayed burn down is one I'm not for. However, I've thought that if I could have oats or something coming up with the beans that I could diffuse the pressure by spreading the slugs over more plants. Also, oats, rye or wheat planted with the beans they would be easy to kill.

This thought came from burn down complaints where they thought the burn down material killed the beans because the areas that were missed had a better stand.
