Northeast Indiana (Auburn)
The 2006 and 2007 classic will give you the 6 speed Allison. The early 2006 models had a LLY motor that was not the same motor as the 2005 LLY but a detuned LBZ. I have a 2006 with the LLY and Allison and a 2007 with the LBZ and Allison. The extra 50 hp of the LBZ costs about one mpg when driving empty, when pulling a load(33,000lbs. gross) they both get the same mpg and I don't notice any difference in the way they tow. The 2006 with the LLY/Allison will get you the best affordable truck.
