I can't recall the sprockets we used. Set the rye in the pockets and see how many fit. Multiply the number is seeds time the soybean settings to get your population. Definitely need the backing plate as the seeds can get past the brushes. They were about $25 each and they came with a chart. Sorry can't be more help... but it's not a set thing it all changes with seed size etc.
