Several years ago, planted my first dryland corn at 15000 pop. Had good weather. Two varieties, both were right at 150 bpa. VarA had 1 huge ear per plant, and VarB had mostly 2 ears per plant. VarB had 1 full ear plus another full ear, 3/4 of a ear, or sometimes another ear plus a partial ear. A lot of plants on the field edge had 3 ears.
