Subject: WIU Organic research farm twlight tour today @ 5 pm

This fall's first twilight tour will start at 5 pm TODAY - Tuesday, September 13th.

During the tour, we will look at a wide variety of crops (e.g., open pollinated and hybrid corn, popcorn, soybeans, pumpkins...) and cover crops (e.g., red clover, sunn hemp, sunflower, radish, mustard, soybean, buckwheat, oats...) planted as part of experiments evaluating tillage systems (including organic no-till), N programs, seed treatments and corn and soybean genetics.

We will also look at equipment (3 cultivators, a rotary hoe, a tine weeder and a rotavator) and may do an equipment demonstration.

Additionally, a few regional experts who are planning to attend will probably share a few remarks.

The WIU Organic Research Farm is located in the SW corner of Warren Cty, IL - 4 miles west of U.S Rt. 67 and 7 miles N of IL Rt. 9. The southeast corner of the farm is the intersection of 20th Ave. and 20th St. just west of Fusion Tech.

The tour will be cancelled if lightning or heavy rains occur during the event or if there is a strong chance of either predicted. Feel free to call Andy Clayton at 217-322-2639 if you have questions about the status of the tour.

IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA AND NOT BUSY HARVESTING, WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU!

Joel
