What your experiencing is why I would pick hybrids based flowering date, grain quality and cool season performance rather than the stated maturity. The GDU measuring system is very skewed. Our low night time temps in my opinion are never realized, even worse for you guys further west. "relative" maturity is just that and very unreliable.

You need to also need to take the maturity gdu number and divide it by 24.5 to get true maturity days. Many advertised variety are 3-5 off one way or the other for marketing purposes.
