Ontario | best way to tell is count how many seeds it lays down in a foot. still won't be dead accurate and you'll also have more or less in some spots but if you check a few times and average it out you can get fairly close. i aimed for 175k this year and think i might have been closer to 180k but so far it looks to be working out alright. i agree with testing different populations in a few spots. doesn't take long to adjust it and you can just do 1 strip then mark it somehow then do the same in another strip. nice if you can do all your test strips in a row so it's easy to compare, just need a good way to mark it like a sign or something
