Subject: RE: Mycogen Seed company?

Mycogen is brand not a company. Dow Agro Science is the company that makes the products which markets the seed under several brands like Mycogen, Pfister and Prairie Dog. Dow brands command a whopping 6.1 % of the US corn market. Mycogen (My Co Gin) carved out a small nitch in the US corn silage market with their BMR hybrids which do make a better quality silage. However the grain breeders want nothing to do with BMR because the hybrids won't stand up. On the other hand Dow has some really good traits with the Herculex family but unfortunately they are inserting these traits into genetics that the farmer does want to purchase.
