What variety is your starting corn? Do you plan on using ear to row selection? Corn seeds are viable for germination sooner than you would think, as you can find volunteer corn in fields from ears that weren't likely much more than dent stage when they fell off, but I wouldn't try them to that early unless you had a disaster.
