Depends on application, planting I try to run around 14-1500 sometimes I need more hp as i'm maxed out. 4x4 anywhere from 1650-1850 all under heavy load. Check NE test results most tractors get their max HP at less than full rpm's. The newer the Tractor the better. New challenger 1000 maxes out around 1400? and they claim to like to run around 1200 but then they have the Best transmission in the world.
