Subject: Re: Is it Farm or Farms

Windom, MN
We went with farms, and my dad owns everything. I guess it sounds better, maybe not grammatically correct. We usually refer to our fields as who we rent them from or who the previous owner was. For example, my dad might say "take the digger over to the Smith* farm," even though we rent that ground. Or he'll tell me to go to the Jones* farm, even though we've owned that ground for 30 years. So I guess even though it all goes into one actual operation, we still refer to the pieces of ground by those farm names so no one is confused. We do have a few fields grandpa originally bought in the 1960's when he moved to the area, and those have directional names like east, north, and the 40 (referring to the size of the field.)

*= names changed, don't want to out my renters.
