They use a spring return system. I personally could not stand it. It is hyd close and spring open. The sensor is for the in cab position sensor if you got that. More than likely have to get a big bar and have someone hold the button in the combine and work them open from the bottom linkage. The other way I got them moving is to open them when corn was going threw the head the cobs and stalks would push the plates back.
