Leesburg, Ohio | We built a straw/hay barn in 2004, and close neighbors have built 3. Open-ended 60 x 90 or 120, with at least 17' clearance under trusses for a self-propelled NH stack cruiser.
We put down a layer of 6 mil plastic on the dirt, then a layer of crusher-run stone. Another layer of plastic on top with a thin layer of junk straw scattered ove the plastic, to keep the bottom layer of,bales from sweating, and to keep the plastic from getting torn by the bale wagon pushing itself out of the stack.
Never lost a bale yet. Cannot imagine the pain of dealing with pallets...no need for that at all. | |
