why is it that 95 of 100 dry bean growers over 40 years old say they don't like to "pull" beans any more LOL

I used to kind of enjoy pulling beans. Not sure why, I didn't like starting a tractor and going to work at 1 am when I was more accustomed to turning the key off about then. We were out of dry beans before rodders were really in vogue. We ran a 6 row AT style knife puller my Dad put together to put on a JD 60 when it was new. Last tractor it was mounted on was a 4440. Bought an AU a few years before we quit, had to change some things like make the parallel linkage longer to allow it to bolt onto a 4450 with tall tires. Anyway, I'm glad I got to do that job. I was glad when we sold the pullers and shakers, too.

And- my favorite trip with a row cultivator was the first trip through sugar beets. My Dad hated almost everything about beets, and refused to cultivate them, Especially the first time. I guess I just got some satisfaction looking at a just cultivated field of beets.

Neither makes much difference now, things of the past almost everywhere. Kind of like being the best buggy whip builder in town.
