Subject: RE: BTO's are shelling

West Kentucky
I doubt seriously that they are shelling corn at 35%, but if they are they have something figured out that I haven't. However, shelling corn at 25% is a money maker, almost always, even at $3.00 corn if you own a dryer and have storage. When the lines get long, adding $.10/bushel in additional cost due to waiting in line is a real number. We started last Thursday at 24% and corn is coming out of the field today at 17.5-19%. If this crop continues to be as good as it has been on the start, I will be way ahead due to starting a little early. I really don't understand how a person can afford to wait for it to dry all the way down in the field if they have more then 7-10 days of corn harvest. Which is why some of us like to shell early and some of us don't, it all depends on how much value we each put on different things.
