It can affect stalk strength ass the plant is still going to try to fill the ear with less photosynthetic potential. I planted a 4.5 acre corn maze middle of May. It went from having Southern Rust in lower half of canopy to almost dead in a weeks time. Milk line is halfway. It can blow up quickly in wet, humid conditions
