Subject: RE: non controversial TW question

Near-north Ontario, French River
I've always wondered about the accuracy of test weights , or more specifically how its measured. Yes there is a 'procedure' for filling the test vessel, etc but a lot of the result depends on how the grain falls into and packs into the testing vessel. All it would take is to giggle the cup, or tap in onto the counter and the grain will pack in more, allowing more grain to be added...... thus increasing the test weight test result. Nine times out of ten , grain will pass the standard to make grade 1 or 2 so its not an issue, but when quality is poor, adding even one or two or three kernals to the sample could make the difference between a good sample and a grade discount.
