Go to the online parts catalogue and price out the parts.

Of the prices quoted most include Mechanic's labor cost.  At least 50% + of the price includes Mechanic's labor.

I have a tractor that has a leak between the Transmission and rearend. JD Shop quoted me $1000.00 for the repair. 

 Actual Parts cost ???   1/2 tube of "form a gasket" about $5.00.

Labor?? $995.00.... 

If you have the shop, time, tools, mechanical knowledge and interest in repairing it yourself, it can be done alot easier.

OR,, a person can pay a "mechanic" $85/hour......
