Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois | Brassring - 8/19/2016 03:53 IF you can make with the wire off, I would sodder it, but be sure to use acid FREE solder just put terminal in a vice heat with a torch, fill about half full and the stick the stripped back cable in and cool with some water never have to worry about crimp coming loose JMO Bob
Brassring has the best procedure, was what I did for cables instead of crimping. I don't think I ever had a crimped fitting that did not fail, including factory crimps, not just mine. All crimps are just a problem waiting to manifest itself. When at all possible, I much prefer solder joints. I consider crimps to be like using baleing wire, works until you can have time and materials to do it right and solder it. Brassring was also correct, I keep resin core solder for electrical joints, acid core is only for metal to metal connections. And, I am very skill inadequate when using solder, even though I have used a lot of it. |
