South Central Nebraska | I would agree with everything you said. I would also like to add the IVT is down right dangerous in some situations when the tractor thinks it is smarter than you. Backing up to equipment and tight spots are two examples. They for some unknown reason will do things you are not expecting and that scares the @#$% out of me.
Planting is the only job we did with an IVT (7920) that it was better than a powershift. We run MX series tractors also and everyone but one likes the MX and it's powershift and cab over the 7920. Our 2004 MX 210 has 3200 hrs and the 2004 7920 has 1700 hrs if you really want to know what tractor people wanted to drive. The 7920 is also the tractor chosen to get traded for a SP sprayer this fall, no more IVT here, everyone happy to see it go.
Bottom line, I would not spend an extra penny for one on my farm. We do have an suspended front on the latest tractor purchase and it is nice but worth the $$$? Time will tell as we use it more. | |
